Southampton

Welcome To Southampton, Ontario

Southampton amalgamated with Port Elgin which is now called Saugeen Shores

Southampton is home to beautiful sandy beaches and award winning sunsets.  This community is filled with grace and class.  Everyone’s favourite meeting place is at the “Big Flag” at the main beach.  You may take a leisurely walk on the boardwalk along Lake Huron with your family or dog.  Your walk will take you to Gerry’s Fast Food where you can enjoy fries and a shake and a swim if you like.
This quaint community is made up of many shops to visit including, Southampton Oil Company, Cook’s Cupboard, The Lighthouse Photo Gallery etc., clothing stores, Rhumba, LAC Boutique, Sisters, etc.  A definite must see for any shopper is the Southampton Market which has over 2 acres of indoor factory outlet market shopping.  There are many options of restaurants that will suit any tastes, The Walker House, Elk & Finch, Duffys, just to name a few.  If you enjoy beer, you must stop by the local brewery, Outlaw Brew Co.

You will enjoy many activities, one of which is my personal favourite is the Bruce County Playhouse which hosts theatre productions during the summer.  On a typical Friday summer night, you will see live music on High Street and local bagpiper piping during the sunset at the “Big Flag” or take a tour of Chantry Island to see the Majestic Imperial Lighthouse built in the mid 1800’s as well as the keeper’s quarters and a boathouse.  Southampton is also home to the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre.  We also have a local hospital!

I can guarantee you, once you visit, you won’t want to ever leave.
