Welcome To Port Elgin, Ontario

Port Elgin is located in Central Bruce County.  Port Elgin has amalgamated with Southampton which is now called The Town of Saugeen Shores.  The population of Saugeen Shores is approximately 14,500.00. Sunsets and Sand is what we are known for. Tourists come from all over to enjoy our sandy beaches whether it be for the day or rent a cottage for a weekend or a week to enjoy all that this community has to offer.  A walk along the marina or the boardwalk along Lake Huron will give you front row seats to our breathtaking sunsets.

Port Elgin is made up of many shops to visit, including home decor, The Women’s Cave, Accents, etc., clothing stores, Casual Corners, Mensch, Cabana, etc. and big box stores as well, Walmart, Giant Tiger, etc.  There are many options of restaurants that will suit any tastes from fine dining at Ristorante Rosinas, The Berksire, Allan’s Fireside to pubs at The Wismer House, Queens Bar and Grill and Chester’s Bar & Grill, just to name a few.  If you enjoy beer, you must stop by Port Elgin’s local brewery, Three Sheets located at The Wismer House.

If you are looking at cooking at home then it is a must that you stop by our local produce market, Hi-Berry Farms, opened from May – October.  Here you will find all your fresh produce.  Hi-Berry plants and harvests all the fruits and vegetables that are sold at their store.  Many local restaurants features their produce on their menus.

You will enjoy many activities that Port Elgin has to offer anytime of the year.  We are blessed with miles and miles of trails for walking, hiking, biking, snowshoeing, etc.  If you are wanting to get in a workout there are many options, Lakeshore Recreation, Saugeen Shores Fitness, etc.  In addition to swimming at the beach, we also have an indoor pool to get your laps in or take your kids for a fun swim.

In the Spring 2023 construction will begin for Saugeen Shores YMCA which will be exciting!  McGregor Park is close by for year round camping.  Enjoy watching the turtles or walk the trails and let the birds eat out of your hands.  The ice skating oval is enjoyed by locals and tourists alike.  You will find many activities for every member of your family to enjoy.

Port Elgin hosts Pumpkinfest annually the weekend before Thanksgiving which brings thousands of people to our community.  There is a giant vegetable weigh-in, rides and games for kids, crafters, sweets, vendors, car show, something for everyone.

What I can tell you is once you visit Port Elgin, you will never want to leave!

Port Elgin, Ontario is located in Central Bruce County along the shoreline of Lake Huron.  Port Elgin and Southampton communities amalgamated and now called Saugeen Shores.  Bruce Power is approximately 28km away.
